Facts about Human Trafficking:

• Defined: "Sex trafficking in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such act has not attained 18 years of age”; or "the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage, or slavery."
• Every 10 minutes one person is trafficked into the United States.
• The largest number of people trafficked into the United States come from East Asia and the Pacific (5,000 to 7,000 victims).
• Over 12 million people worldwide are trafficked for forced labor or sexual exploitation.
• Modern day slavery is the second largest criminal industry in the world.
